2012 Grammys grieves for Whitney Houston
Singer Whitney Houston’s death Saturday has brought a shadow over tonight’s Grammy Awards and the pre-ceremony gala Saturday night, however, friends and people who have worked with her were reminiscing her powerful voice and talent and not the trials of her later career.
In the Grammys, Houston had been expected to sing, but because of the unexpected event, Jennifer Hudson was making plans to sing in her honor.
“It was a big shock when the news hit,” said Grammy executive producer Ken Ehrlich. “We’re definitely going to do something, but in some ways it’s too fresh and too early to do a full-blown tribute.”
Houston’s passing Saturday afternoon at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills happened before she was scheduled to appear at an annual pre-Grammy party responsible for introducing her to the industry decades ago and was set to give recognition to the six-time Grammy winner.
Meanwhile, the 2012 Grammy Awards will be hosted by LL Cool J, and will air live TONIGHT at 8 p.m. on CBS.
